Taking The Plunge

Yes, it's true. I am taking the plunge to get back into shape before my body kills me. I have been overweight for three years now, since marrying Trucker, and fluffly long enough. I feel worse physically than ever before in my life and it's simply because I don't exercise. I know this!

Having gone from being a single mom working two jobs, which required physical exertion, to being married and sitting on my ass for the first two years, well let's just say "It was bound to happen". I don't like it one bit. I have that "sit on your ass" spread, as well as the fluffy muffin top. Eww just thinking about it is gross.

I'm not going into this with the attitude that I am going to come out looking like Pam Anderson but only want to have more stamina. Right now walking to the mail box causes me to break out in a sweat and breath heavily. Seriously. I walked, not ran, walked quickly to my phone at work yesterday and I know the customer thought I was a heavy breather by the time I answered. You would have thought I had ran a damn marathon.

I am determined to change
all of this with the help of the NEA Wellness Center. It's perfect for me. It's directly across the street from work and we are getting a corporate discount at the place. Yippee, for only $20 a month I have all of this at my fingertips. Take a look at some of the pictures and tell me what you think.

Indoor Track

The NEA Clinic Wellness Center at the Athletic Club has a 1/18 mile indoor, rubberized running/walking track.

Cardio Theatre
The NEA Clinic Wellness Center offers a complete line of cardiovascular training equipment including treadmills, elliptical trainers, bikes, and stair steppers. Also provided is a Cardio Theatre which allows you to watch television while you work out.

Indoor Pool

The NEA Clinic Wellness

Center at the Athletic Club's indoor, heated swimming pool is five feet deep and kept at 86 degrees year round. Pool Hours: The pool closes 30 minutes before the club closes each day. Any changes to this will be posted. Water Aerobics: We currently have an arthritis water aerobics class in cooperation with the Northeast Arkansas Area Agency on Aging.

Locker Rooms

Both our men's and women's locker rooms are supplied with multiple amenities such as shampoo, mouthwash, hairspray, body lotion, etc. Each has showers, lockers, restrooms, and a private entrance into the pool area.

Juice Bar

Visit our City Blendz Juice Bar for various types of protein shakes. Our juice

bar has delicious custom blendz including top-of-the-line supplements, energy-booster shooters, coffee, and healthy snacks. Ask our staff about the juice bar cards that are available. When purchased, these prepaid cards provide you with extra credit towards anything purchased at the juice bar. Watch for our shake of the month and our shake of the day. These shakes are 20% off each day. The City Blendz Juice Bar is available to members as well as to the general public. Call-in orders are also welcome. Come try a shake from the largest selection of healthy blendz on the planet!

So if you don't see me around anytime soon, just know I've drowned in that heated pool.

That is awesome...we all seem to be on the same page with getting healthy.

I am also on day for and being honest with myself as well as others about it all. I find that if I blog it, I usually will do it, so we shall see...

I have that same mail box affliction..I hate it and I feel so old to be going on 45 in one heart was starting to hurt, my bones hurt, and I am probably not a lot of fun to be around in my condition, SO I am changing and this time it is for live a healthier life.

W2G!!! If I had a GREAT health club nearby, I might be more adapt to go, butI can walk on the beach everyday. That is great for you.

Support through the sisterhood!

Okay, I am seriously jealous! That is an amazing gym! And only $20 a month! Wow! It looks like you are really going to get a great workout, too. You know, mixing it up when you get bored doing the same thing. Good for you getting in the gym. I work out at Curves, I started about a little over a year ago. I am in SUCH better shape than I was. Heart rate is down, flexibility is way up. I hope you really love it!

That gym is just beautiful! If they offer Pilates classes, you MUST try them. Pilates is my personal favorite exercise.

Day 4 for me on the South Beach diet. Hate to admit how good I feel:)

Can't wait to see you on Baywatch!

Well, I came over to see where you've been & realize Blogger just didn't update you on my thingy. Oh Wait! I think it was actually because I didn't recognize the athletic legs shown with your blog, lol. And when I come... what do I find? Another person jumping on the get healthy wagon! After looking at your place I guess I'd want to go too. Just be sure to drink lots & lots of water. I prefer to sweat and turn red in the face in private because it is NOT a pretty picture. Hehehe... Actually, I like to powerwalk with 5 lb. hand weights at a local Xeriscape park. With with ipod shuffle in my ears, lol. Music always seems to make it go faster for me. Let me know if you want a cd of music. I can get your bootay rocking!
