Simple Woman's Daybook

FOR TODAY

Outside my window...It's a bit cloudy, somewhat cooler than it has been, but looks to be a gorgeous day provided by our Lord.

I am thinking...What a truly lucky woman I am to have a sweet husband, lovely family and loving grand children.

I am thankful for...God, who has provided me with so much in my life.

From the learning rooms...I picked up some flashcards for my two grandchildren and will be working with them daily on sight words and letter sounds.  My grandson read his first book this week and that's a huge milestone for him.   Praise be to God.

From the kitchen...I look out over our freshly mowed backyard, watching the squirrels playing, the birds feeding at the feeder while I am doing dishes.

I am wearing...A pair of khaki shorts, t-shirt, flip flops and my usual apron.  I adore aprons now.

I am creating...my first decorative tassel out of ribbons, beading and a little spring bird topper.

I am going...no further than my yard and school today.

I am reading...the bible and blogs today, when time permits.

I am hoping...and praying that my two adorable grand kids continue to get to live with me!

I am hearing...the sound of cartoons in the background along with the keyboard clacking away.

Around the house...it's never ending housework.  I've never had so much laundry to do before.  I also am planting many houseplants to bring indoors.

One of my favorite things...Is Thursday afternoon bible studies at my home.  What a wonderful time we women have together.

A few plans for the rest of the week:  Prepare and ready for my grand son's 7th birthday party, bake cupcakes, and lots of home study for him.

Here is picture for thought I am sharing...

Pink Saturday and Mosaic Monday

I've been absent for several weeks now and I must apologize for this.  You see I have my grand children here with me now and we are still working on a good routine.  As many of you know kids take a lot of time!  So please forgive me for my long absence.  I hope to get back into my regular routine of blogging daily once again.

As you probably already know by now Pink Saturday is hosted by Ms. Beverly of How Sweet the Sound.  Thank you so very much Beverly for taking the time to do this for each of us every week.  Pink has always been one of my favorite colors.  Be sure and visit all the other delightful Pink Saturday posts when finished here.

We have a weekly standing challenge to visit and speak about a fellow Pink Saturday blogger and today I am featuring Phyllis @ Around the House.   Phyllis has posted some gorgeous pink tulips today.  Her blog is also full of gorgeous table settings in all colors and china patterns.  Be sure and give her a visit today.

Today my pinks that I am sharing are from one of my favorite online stores - Serendipity-Crafts.  If your not familiar with Serendipity Crafts which is operated and owned by Elizabeth and Hugh, then you really need to go over and give them a visit and take a look at their fabulous plates and platters.  You see Elizabeth and Hugh design and hand paint gorgeous plates and platters for all occasions.  Yes, you read that correctly, they hand paint each plate themselves.  No transferring of pictures, no decoupaging, each one is individually and meticulously painted by hand.   So without further ado here are a few of their fabulous plates that all feature Pink in the design.

This plate doesn't have any pink in it, but I wanted to show you just how wonderful their hand painting is.  They can take any picture you send them for a special order and paint it onto a plate or platter.  Check this work out!

I hope you've enjoyed my Pink Saturday and Mosaic Monday as much as I've enjoyed posting it.  Be sure and visit Mary @ The Little Red House for all the wonderful Mosaic Monday posts this coming Monday.

Also head over to Serendipity Crafts to see their fabulous work on plates and platters.  I know you'll find something for yourself or for a gift this year.  Plus I know you'll come back and say thank you.

Have a beautiful Pink Saturday my friends.

Happy Easter Everyone!  May your Easter Sunday and your wonderful weekend be full of laughter, love, family and Christ.

Since I've got my grand babies now I haven't had time for anymore Easter decorating in our home.  Rest assured we are filled with all the love and blessings that Easter brings.  This week since I've been so very very busy I am sharing some beautiful pictures I've found through Google Images.  I know, that is cheating, but I hope you forgive me this time.  The week just got away from me.

Easter is of course full of beautifully decorated eggs.

Lots of gorgeous Easter baskets:

And of course, beautiful children:

Sweet Projects Finished

Good morning everyone!  Today I wanted to share some smaller projects I've been working on around here.  Most of these I started early last week but after the unexpected arrival of my beautiful grand babies they were placed on hold momentarily.  Well after a few days of getting into a new routine and life in order again (as much as it can be when little ones are around) I finally got them finished.  Whew I was happy to get this done and am quite proud of the way they all turned out.  Now without further ado here they all are.

I completely forgot to take before pictures of this one.  But picture it, Home Interiors Brass Sconce.  One of the globes had gotten broken and I hated the brass.  So I mixed my own craft paints and created the color I wanted to match our new bedroom redo and this is what I came up with.  I really love the color.

These two items cost me a total of $2.00.  I love the Moss Rose plate and knew when I found it I wanted to make a cake stand from it.  Later in the same Flea Market I found the wood stand.  It was marriage time for the two.  I first painted the stand with Kilz primer and then gave it three coats of Country White paint.  After the natural drying time (which seemed to take forever) I glued the two of them together using Gorilla Glue.  That was my first time using Gorilla Glue and I had heard several bloggers say that it expanded quite a bit.  Well thankfully I remembered this and took it into consideration.  Bloggers, you were right!  It swelled up quite a bit and I had to scrape up one small piece.  After removing the excess glue I then sand papered the edges for a distressed look.  Here's the final result.

The next piece I got finished started out looking like this.

It had once been a silver dresser tray and when I ordered it and it arrived the mirror was broken in a million and one pieces.  I hated for it to be tossed and new I could make something useful and pretty out of it.  So I decided to make it a tray for my dining table.  First I painted it with country blue craft paint.  I only gave it one coat.  After that dried  I used Modge Podge and glued some pretty scrapbook paper (which I already had on hand) onto it.  Once that dried I knew it needed more.  but what?  After shopping the house I decided to use some little white flowers on the corners of it.  The flowers were actually from the bouquet my daughter carried when Trucker and I were married.  So they have strong memories for me.  I simply hot glued them to the corners and one on each side.  After that I decided to slightly sandpaper the pretty details on the frame itself.  Here is the final result:

Now that I've gotten all these projects finished it's time to move on to the next one.  Here's a sneak peak at what I am doing this week.  I'm sure you can figure it out.  This will be one that will need to be done when the kids are in bed.  LOL.

I can't wait to get this one going.

This week I am linking this post up to all these wonderful linky parties.  Be sure and head over and visit all the wonderful projects done by everyone else.
