I wanted to share some of my favorite pieces I have had for many years. These first two hold so many wonderful memories for me and were made by very loving hands. My grandmother's loving hands to be exact. She made these so many years ago for me that I quite honestly do not remember how old (or young) she was at the time. She is now the ripe age of 105 and going strong. She no longer crochets or makes crafts as she once did but she has so many beautiful things to this day. As well as all the gorgeous things she has already given all of her daughters and sons through the years. She taught me to crochet when I was about 10 years old and this was no small feat. You see I am a lefty and grandmother is a righty. This made it difficult for the both of us. I wish I would have learned many more of her stitches, designs and things, but I hate to say but at 10 years old I lost interest quickly. I never learned how to crochet with such delicate small thread. 
This announcement plate belonged to Truckers grandmother. I don't know a lot of the history of the plate. Not sure if it was a gift or a purchase. It is marked on the back "Steubenville". The announce reads "Don and Mrs. Donald Stepp have the happiness to announce the adoption of Mary Judith age nine months". Mary Judith was Truckers mother. She passed away at the age of 39.
If there is anyone reading this that knows how to remove tobacco stains from porcelain I would dearly appreciate knowing how. I have attempted cleaning this plate a few times and only succeeded in removing some of the writing on it. I no longer try to clean it now.
This crown means a lot of me as well. It is the only one I own or had the pleasure of actually winning. I believe I was about 13 or 14 years old (when you're older your memory fades) and won this in the Valentine's Day Beauty Pageant. It sits atop a space on my dresser next to the picture of me winning.

Call me sentimental but I love things are passed down from generation to generation and the memories that come with them. What precious things you have!
