Family Wall

I hope everyone had as lovely a weekend as we had here in the Stepp Home. Lots of relaxation, fun, makeovers, and picture taking happened. My favorite kind of weekend. One of the things that happened in the way of makeovers is my new Family Wall. The wall above our couch in the living room was bland. Very bland. I thought I had a before picture , but for the life of me cannot find one. Just use your imagination, it had one large home interior picture of sunflowers with a sunflower swag and two sconces. That's it nothing more. The sunflowers didn't even go with the rest of the living room decor.

I have been inspired by all the beautiful ideas found on various blogs showing using stencils or monograms in different sized frames. I fell in love with them. So decided to make my own.

I do not have cricut nor did I have any letter stencils that would work. So I simply printed off my letters on the computer. Attached them to the paperstock I wanted to use and carefully cut around each letter. I then placed the letters onto a background that I had also made from cardstock purchased from Hobby Lobby. My favorite store on earth. Naturally then I placed the "Family" into a frame I had here at home. The frame had an ugly print in it and I removed it by using a razor blade. Since I had removed the backing on the frame I then had no hanger attached to it. I decided to use my hot glue gun and glued a ribbon onto the back and then tied in a pretty bow for hanging. Once I had it all put together this is how it turned out. I love it. I think it turned out very well.

With the help of Princess (she eyeballed the hanging for me) this is how the Family Wall turned out.

I also managed to accomplish another project I had been wanting to get done. If you've been following my blog you know that I hate brass. I just have no love at all for brass. I bought a can of silver metallic spray paint and refinished all the brass candleholders I had. Here is some before and after pics. I haven't decided yet where to use the new bright silver holders yet, but give me time and I'll come up with something fabulous I'm sure.

Today I'm linking up with Susan @ Between Naps On the Porch for Met Monday.

Don't forget to head over to Mary's @ Little Red House to see all the beautiful Monday Mosaics.

Don't forget to head over to Cindy's for Make It For Monday

Thanks for stopping by to visit. I really like the way your paint transformed all the brass. Making your family by just cutting out fonts from the computer was very clever and looks so nice in your frame.

I think you covered all the Monday bases here. Lol.
Great project. I always use computer printed letters to do my projects.

Your family wall is so cute and nice job with the silver...so much better than brass! What would we do without spray paint???

Awesome collection of frames! I also love those brass candlesticks - I buy them at thrift stores all the time. Nothing says glam like taper candles, and nobody will know you only spent a few bucks! :)
