Love on Wednesdays

Everyone knows that February is Love Month since it's the month that Valentine's day comes in. I have been reading for a little while a blog called Coloradolady and am really enjoying her posts. This month she decided to do a "Love on Wednesdays" theme. Everyone can take part in this and then use the Mr. Linky at the bottom of her posts to share and spread the love. Being such a romantic I wanted to take part and hope everyone who reads my blog will as well. Simply post a picture and tell a story of that love picture and link back to Coloradolady and Mr. Linky. This can be anything that reminds you of love. As we all know love comes in many shapes, sizes and meanings.

For me the first thing I thought of was this.

All of my life I have been and will continue to be a true ro
mantic. But Valentine's Day was never celebrated around my house by any of my former spouses or boyfriends. In fact I was even married to one a$$hole who actually took me to Walmart on VD and handed me a lovely VD card. Told me to read it and then said "No point in buying it now, you get the drift". How romantic is that? NOT.

After Trucker and I started dating of course during our time together he had heard this story as well. Trucker is a true romantic, but at this time however I didn't realize how much so. Our first Valentine's together I had the florist send him a stuffed frog (which make a kissie sound when you push his tummy) with a huge "I Love You" balloon attached. We had spoken several times that day (Trucker and I, not the frog and me, LOL) and during each conversation Trucker would ask me how my day was going and had I gotten anything special? Each time I replied "No nothing special". I did tell him my sister and father each sent me flowers and candy. Well Trucker would never say much after that.

I had to go to my evening job that night after the attorney's office as it was my night to work. Bummer, but had to do it. After the flower shops closed and I got to work Trucker called me again. This time while on the phone he apologized for not having remembered it was Valentine's Day till much later in the day and his florist had closed as well. I told him not to worry as it was just another
day to me. But inside I have to say I was heartbroken.

While on the phone at that time and still talking I had a customer walk into the store. I barely glanced up and went on talking. It took me a couple of seconds to register that it was Trucker who walked in and was walking towards me carrying a vase filled with roses and a big balloon. It was sorta a blur after that. I had dropped the phone, ran around the counter (just as he set the flowers down) and jumped into his arms. I was crying and laughing all at the same time.

Trucker had ordered me a very large flower arrangement to be delivered to me that day at work. However his florist had waited till the last minute to call my town's florist and by then they had no flowers left and apologized for this. Trucker became quite upset when he found this out at work. He took his 30 minute lunch and went out and bought me a small bud vase and had had it in his truck all afternoon. When he got off work he drove the 1 1/2 hours to bring it to me. He said he was NOT letting another Valentine's Day go by without ever receiving flowers again. That's the day I knew I would marry this man.

I would say you have finally found a keeper. We also don't do valentine much at my house. My hubby of 48 yrs has always said, why do you have to wait for one day a year to show your love, it should be shown everyday.

Oh. My. Goodness. This post brought tears to my eyes. This has got to be the sweetest story I have heard in a while.

How lucky you are to have found such a wonderful caring man, can you just imagine how many women do not have that type of romance in their lives? I can!

Thank you so much for sharing your story...I am glad to know there are a few romantic fellows left in this world.

I am so glad you are participating in Love on Wednesdays...this made my day. Have a "lovely" day!!

Truckers are romantic. My husband drives a wrecker and a rollback. He's out all crazy hours but has Mondays off. Anyone who gets into his truck steps into Fred's pulpit on wheels. He is a NASCARaholic too. Just checking out some blogs because Im new to the Jounal--posted my first one today. I love your page header!
