Expired Coupons Anyone?

Many of us have started using coupons or some of you may have been doing so a long time now, whatever the case may be I just read about how you can still put your expired coupons to use for a wonderful cause. Sarah at A Thrifty Mom posted this and after having read it myself I think it is a wonderful idea that needs to be passed around.

You can help out our military personnel and their families because they are allowed to use expired coupons. They can be used at over sea bases for more than 2 months past the expiration date. They are allowed to use them at the military grocery store (commissary). They do prefer you to send them no later than the 2 months expiration date. Even though they can use them past the two months date.

So ladies start gathering those expired coupons when you clean out your binders or organizers and send them to our military families in a show of support. For the cost of a stamp we can all help out our fellow military members and their families. Get together with your church groups, friends and family and make a party of it. Everyone clean out and send together and have a glass of wine and kick back. What a wonderful way to help support our troops.

Here is the link in which to sign up for this: Adopt A Base Page and then follow the simple instructions. They do prefer you to bundle them in "Food" and "Non Food" groups and place them in a baggie or envelope for easier sorting. As well you can choose to adopt a new base each time or send to the same base. The choice is yours.

Help spread the word about this if you can. Tell your friends and family as well as any organizations you belong to.

That's a really good idea! Thanks for posting it...I always get a little sad when I have expired coupons and hate to throw them away.

I'm going to help spread the word on this one. Thanks for sharing the idea. I love it and what a way to help out someone else. No one who clips coupons can say they are too busy to stick a stamp on an envelope.

Thanks!
