Sharing Some Springtime

First I would like to say a huge Thank You to everyone that has entered my give-a-way in celebration of my Etsy store T's Treasures.  To all that haven't yet entered it's not to late.  You have until this Friday, March 19th to get entered.

I know that many of you might still be suffering in the winter land of blahs right now.  Because of this fate of nature I thought I might share some lovely springtime colors with you today.  The weather here has been lovely this week, well all besides the springtime storms of course.  I however, love those spring storms and all the hail, lightening and maybe tornadoes that go along with it.  OK, call me weird but I love a good storm!  I have managed to get outside and enjoy the weather and do some yard work.  My springtime colors unfortunately are not outside this week, for as lovely as it has been I still don't have any colors outdoors as of yet.

My pretty pastels are coming from inside our home this week.   It all started when I won this fabulous, gorgeous and pretty Easter Tassel at Life as Lori a week or so ago.  The Easter Tassel that was given away on her blog and was from Lynette's L.A. M. blog.  Lynette had become a new sponsor at Lori's and decided to give the tassel away.  Well a huge Thank You to both lovely ladies as I won the fab. giveaway and my tassel arrived on Tuesday morning.  It was love at first sight as well as the inspiration I needed to change my fireplace mantel to springtime and Easter decor.

College Princess came over Tuesday and her and I both set to work on the mantel.  First we added several of the birdhouses that I have in my kitchen.  Blues, pinks, some greens and lavenders.  Such beautiful spring colors all to match the Easter tassel.

After this Princess and I sat back to admire our handiwork.  After much admiring we decided it still needed something more.  I remembered seeing various Easter Egg Trees out in blog-land.  So Princess and I set to work making our own version of this tree.  I found a package leftover from Easter's past of pretty pastel eggs that were speckled in red splatters.  We then gathered our crafts.  First we covered each egg in Modge Podge and then rolled them in sugar.  Once those had dried Princess hot glued pastel ribbons in different colors to each decorated egg.  We took one of the birdhouse (which is actually a tissue holder) and placed a wicker ball in the center top (where the tissues should come out).  We stuck tree branches down into the wicker and placed the whole thing into the tissue opening of the birdhouses.  Then Princess hung our eggs onto it.

Once we got the Egg Tree on the mantel we knew we loved it.  The best part of the entire redo is that we done this together.  We had wonderful quality time and lots of giggles along the way.

And to think it all started with the gorgeous Easter Tassel.  If you enlarge the picture you can see the tassel hanging in front along with my small collection of wind chimes that I keep in the house.

Today I am linking up with Bev of How Sweet The Sound for her Pink Saturday party.  Head on over and check out all the other lovely pinks this week.

The tassel is so cute and you did a wonderful job in the mantle. I have been wanting to update my mantle with sping-y colors but the room is mostly espresso browns, tans and beige. So it's hard to throw bright colors in there. But I think pink would do well. A tassel would be a great starting point! And I have always loved birdhouses. Thank you so much for sharing and thanks or stopping by my blog and leaving such a nice comment! Have a wonderful weekend! -April
